FLOW
Project type
Music Collaboration
Date
July 2025
Location
Brazil, UK, Turkey
Flow is EarthSonic's global music and water initiative, bringing together six artists from Brazil, Bangladesh, Iceland, and the UK to translate the stories of water and the climate crisis into sound. Rooted in the principle that 90% of climate change impacts are water-related, the project centres women's voices and lived experiences, from droughts in the Amazon to rising floodwaters in the UK and the melting glaciers of the Arctic. Alongside the music, Flow is developing a global sound archive in collaboration with scientists, nature sound recordists, and Indigenous communities, a feature-length artistic-documentary film, and a 10-minute immersive installation combining music, film, and spoken word. A global tour is planned, targeting museums, festivals, cinemas, and cultural institutions across continents.
In terms of achievements, Flow made its debut inside the United Nations Climate Conference COP30 in Belém, Brazil in November 2025, bringing music and women's voices directly into international climate decision-making. Following that success, the project was invited by the UNFCCC to perform at the opening ceremony of COP31 in Antalya, Turkey in November 2026. It is also presenting at London Climate Action Week in June 2026, with performances and panels at The Conduit, Ladbroke Hall, Somerset House, and the Wellcome Collection. The project's call to action, centred on the Flow Water Pledge at flow.earthsonic.org/pledge, pushes for the protection of communities most impacted by water-related crises, advancing women's rights and health-centred climate solutions.
