Project type
Music Collaboration, Immersive Installation
Date
Feb 2026
Location
Finland and Uzbekistan
Two Seas is an EarthSonic project that explores the climate crisis through the stories of two dramatically contrasting bodies of water: the frozen Bothnian Bay in Oulu, Finland, and the dried-out remains of the Aral Sea in Muynak, Uzbekistan. It brings together an ambitious international creative team including electronic group Paranoid London, Finnish and Sami artists, Uzbekistani artists, Matt Black of Coldcut, and Ben Sheppee of The Observatory. Together they are developing an audio-visual installation using field recordings, electronic music, and site-specific performance to examine environmental change through sound and inspire action.
In terms of milestones and upcoming work, Paranoid London travelled to the Frozen People Festival in February 2026 to record sounds of the melting frozen sea in Oulu and perform live. This summer, the team will travel to Muynak, Uzbekistan to record sounds of the dried Aral Sea, accompanied by a live performance from Paranoid London at OFF SAND (Stihia festival). The project will then culminate in a live performance at Shambala Festival in August 2026, with the installation premiering at Amsterdam Dance Event in October 2026, and an album release planned for January 2027.
